Shenzhen Airport Landscape Enhancement

Gallery

The Shenzhen International Airport marks a new step forward in the creation of a world class airport. An environment that projects the ideals and values that represent the future of Shenzhen. Shenzhen International Airport will not only be the significant hub for the region, but will also be upgraded to an aviation city with diverse experience, and a vision which is different from traditional airport design.

The vision is to create a new world class gateway and an international reception window that speaks about Shenzhen’s unique spirit and a culture which is innovation and defined by, youth and energy, technology and future growth, both coastal and ecological.

The design scope includes the master planning of an area of more than 200ha up to detailed landscape design. The site includes a public green space in front of the terminal, streetscape and a ferry and toll station. It covers a full dimension of environmental renovation and improvement including master planning, transportation planning, architectural design, and landscape design.

For the masterplan, we created four design principles which include creating an outstanding gateway, a strong urban axis, a diverse near-far land-scape, and an on-site flexible planning.

The design language is derived from the Ocean Wave and the Sky Wave which is a specific to the site and it’s unique character.
